Parents / Guardians Competition Code of Conduct

Club Secretaries must ensure that all Parents / Guardians, when signing the Player’s Registration Card, have received a copy of this Code of Conduct for season 2011/12.

It is the obligation of all Parents / Guardians to agree and adhere to this Code of Conduct and the F.A. Club Child Protection Policy when signing their child’s Registration Card to be registered with the Competition.  In doing so, they accept the conditions within this Code of Conduct and are considered to be a member of the playing club.

The Parents / Guardians and Spectators attitude has a significant bearing on a child’s attitude towards other players, referees, team officials and spectators and it is the Club’s responsibility to ensure that they all abide by this Code of Conduct.  The F.A. designated spectators area is for all spectators to be on one side of the pitch and for both the team’s officials and substitutes to be on the opposite side of the pitch.  The purpose of the designated spectator’s area is to prevent spectators haranguing and abusing each other from one side of the pitch to the other.  It is observed that spectators are more reserved when all are standing next to each other.  It also allows room for the assistant referee to assist in and officiate the game effectively and room for players to take throw ins.

All areas behind the goals should be free from spectators.

Obligations

  1. The aim of the Competition is for players to enjoy the game.
  2. Fair play and respect for all is fundamentally important.
  3. Accept success and failure, victory and defeat equally.
  4. Treat opponents with due respect at all times, irrespective of the result of the game.
  5. Accept the decisions of the match officials without protest.
  6. Show respect towards match officials before, during and after the match.
  7. Show respect towards the opponent’s team, officials and supporters.
  8. Remember that children learn best by example. Applaud good play by your team and by members of the opposing team.
  9. Try to avoid coaching your child during the game, leave this to the team officials.
  10. Avoid shouting and screaming, just encourage the players, remember they are playing the game for enjoyment.
  11. The Competition will not tolerate inappropriate language or behaviour.
  12. The Competition will not tolerate sexual or racial harassment, or any other discriminatory behaviour, whether physical or verbal, by players or spectators and shall ensure such behaviour is reported to the Birmingham County F.A. and is met with the appropriate disciplinary action in whatever context it occurs.

IMPORTANT

The Parent / Guardian, in signing the Player’s Registration Card, fully understands and accepts that any undesirable behaviour by them, at any match, which breaches the Competition’s Code of Conduct and brings the Competition into disrepute, could result in disciplinary action being taken against them.
